151-156 Reunion at Melton Mowbray 2019

151/156 Parachute Battalion Association Reunion at Melton Mowbray 11-12/10/2019

The 2019 reunion started at a rather soggy Saltby airfield. Unfortunately I was still en route to Melton and missed the activities.

The dinner at Sysonby Knoll Hotel on the evening of Friday 11th October was well attended with 60 members and a great night was had by all. Alastair Hill also signed a number of copies of his book Arnhem, From Wishaw to Wolfheze, which tells the story of his uncle Jock Sneddon who was KIA at Arnhem on the 20th September 1944.

The service at St Mary’s church on Saturday morning 12th October  was also well attended with nearly 100 attendees. Brian McAvoy conducted the service, with a speech from Charlotte O’Reilly about Jock Sneddon, and we were all treated to the excellent voices of the Orston Village Choir which helped the service be that little extra special. After a number of photographs at the memorial inside the church it was outside again with Pegasus V, the Parachute Regiment mascot and some more photos.

Finally, we all retired to the Harboro for a buffet and numerous goodbyes.
